Radha began her music journey at the age of 3 when she constantly begged her mom for piano lessons. She was classically trained in piano, self taught on guitar and bass, and eventually fell in love with drumming. In her teen years she played in multiple bands as a drummer, guitarist, and pianist and she played shows all around Texas. Radha started teaching at age 16 and when she turned 19, she officially opened Radha School of Music (Jan 2016). The heart behind RSM is to help students fall in love with learning, creating, and ultimately discovering depth within ourselves through music and expression.
Since opening RSM , Radha has been building a team of teachers who share the same mindset and vision in the goal behind teaching music. She’s built many programs for students of all ages (including adults) and is constantly finding and creating opportunities for students and musicians to connect and push each other to improve.
In the past couple of years, Radha has dived deeper into music production and opened Indigo Studios, a full production studio within RSM. Students of all ages can learn different areas of production like audio engineering, videography, video editing, and lighting and the production crew produces many shows and projects throughout the year. Students producing students - it’s a win win.
Radha strongly encourages all musicians to start playing with other musicians as soon as possible. The non verbal musical conversations and magic that comes from playing off each other and listening to each other is indescribable. Timing is improved, theory, soloing, improvisation, and playing with others pushes musicians out of their comfort zone into a space where they are a lot more free. Radha teaches some private lessons but her specialty lies in teaching bands and building confidence in students!
Radha also works with career-driven students record original music and establish themselves here in the live music capital of the world. Radha is committed to helping others find and grow their own path while constantly working on herself both as a person and a musician.
Outside of her work at RSM, Radha enjoys tap dancing and stage / production management for music festivals and events in her free time. You can also find her dancing at the funkiest shows in Austin!
