Band Friends is a program for student musicians to come together and learn how to play as a band. The best part of learning an instrument is getting to play with other musicians and learning how to connect and communicate through music!
Band & performance opportunities for ages 8 to adults + beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
RSM offers several types of bands based on your age, skill level, and goals. The number and style of bands change throughout the year, but you can check out details & our pricing structure below.
Pricing is based on meeting duration & frequency, with most bands meeting 60-90 mins each week. The schedule is determined during band placement at the beginning of each semester.
Band Friends registration opens in both Fall & Spring and is a semester-long commitment. At least one year of instrument experience is required to join & band members must continue in private lessons.
Registration for our band program is currently closed. If you are interested in learning about band for future semesters, please fill out our contact form.

This program is by invitation only for self-sufficient, driven musicians who can learn songs quickly and and who can be ready to play a set of music with minimal rehearsals and support.
Each band has a performance showcase concert at a venue in Austin at the end of the semester.
We place students in a band that matches their level, and they have an opportunity to chart their progress as they gain experience. We have many bands that continue for several semesters together!
Pricing is based on weekly meeting durations and is a monthly fee for the duration of the entire semester, regardless of exact band meetings in each month (programs do not meet on certain weeks such as Thanksgiving & Spring Break.)
When a musician takes the step from playing music solo to playing with others, the possibilities are endless. Internal timing and rhythm immediately kick in which allows the brain to let go and the body to let the music flow through. Every instrument has a specific purpose and place in a band or ensemble and the dynamic changes depending on the instrumentation, genre, and group.
Learning to really LISTEN and tune into how the instruments fit with each other is something that just can’t be done without that in person full band experience. This program is perfect for students to take their playing to the next level and to explore as many ways to play and create music as possible.
